Yang Huang is the author of three award winning novels: My Good Son (UNO Publishing Lab Prize), My Old Faithful (Juniper Prize), and Living Treasures (Nautilus Book Award silver medal). Her new novel Oasis, a love story set in modern China from 1976 to 1992 amidst climate change, won the inaugural Cai Emmons Fiction Award and is scheduled to be published by the Red Hen Press in spring 2027. She grew up in China and now works as a computer engineer at UC Berkeley. Through her writing, she explores the complexities of the Chinese and Chinese-American experience, focusing on the period beginning with the 1989 student uprisings, of which she took part, to contemporary times. Her essays and stories have appeared in Poets & Writers, Literary Hub, The Millions, Taste, The Margins, Asian Pacific American Journal, and elsewhere. She has received fellowships from Sewanee Writers’ Conference and Community of Writers.
