Michelle Robertson
https://www.michellerobertson.me/Michelle Robertson is the “BART Storyteller,” a published poet, and an award-winning journalist. In her short tenure on the BART (SF Bay Area Rapid Transit System) Communications team, Michelle has written more than 100 stories on a variety of topics related to transportation and urbanism. She also developed a series of rider engagement, communications, and marketing initiatives, including the rider storytelling series BART Connects (bart.gov/bartconnects), BART’s writing contests (bart.gov/bartlines), One Book One BART (bart.gov/bookclub), and multiple ad campaigns. Prior to BART, Michelle worked as a journalist for national and local news organizations, with bylines in the San Francisco Chronicle, SFGATE, Orion, Hi Fructose, Via, and the San Francisco Standard, among others. Her essay “Recovery Season” was listed as a notable mention in “The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2016.” In 2022, Michelle’s debut poetry collection, Hate Mail: Thank You for Reading, was published by Vine Leaves Press. She received her master’s degree in English with a focus on Victorian poetry from UC Irvine in 2020. Michelle grew up in the Bay Area and studied literature at UC Berkeley. She is currently writing a novel at a messy desk in Oakland.
