"I’m so pleased to recommend Lisa Lerner’s class: Writing for Education!
This class covered all the basics needed to break into the field of educational writing. The classes were engaging from beginning to end. We covered an enormous amount of relevant material but did so using an easy to follow format. Each session was structured using a clear syllabus and applicable homework - no time was wasted!
The classes took a deep dive into specific genres and age appropriate content. We studied relevant samples, reviewed proper manuscript formatting, and learned how to create art specs to accompany our stories. Each student was given ample opportunity to share their work in class and Lisa always made relevant, personal comments to submitted material. Her feedback was very specific and allowed me to make adjustments in my work leading to demonstrable growth as a writer. As a follow-up to each session, Lisa provided links to additional resources and recorded each class to make it easy to review the topics later on.
Toward the end of the workshop, Lisa taught us how to create an enticing cover letter and most importantly, where to find educational publishers to send our work out to.
