Jenny Qi
www.jqiwriter.comJenny Qi is the author of Focal Point (2021), winner of the 2020 Steel Toe Books Poetry Award. Her essays and poems have appeared in The New York Times, The Atlantic, ZYZZYVA, San Francisco’s Asian Art Museum, and elsewhere. A 2020 Grotto Fellow, she has also received support from Tin House, the San Francisco Foundation, the Crested Butte Center for the Arts, and others. As a Brown-Handler Resident in 2022-23, she translated her late mother’s writings about the Chinese Cultural Revolution and life in Las Vegas and is working on a hybrid collection titled Liminal Bodies as well as a memoir in essays in conversation with this work. Jenny holds a B.A. from Vanderbilt University and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Science from UCSF. She has worked as a cancer researcher, podcaster, content strategist, and competitive intelligence manager and now does a bit of everything as a freelance writer. She has covered science, medicine, policy, the outdoors, food and culture, and more for a wide range of companies and audiences.
