BETH WINEGARNER is a journalist and author. She has written about female Muslim heavy metal musicians in the Middle East for the New Yorker, Ellen Pao’s battle against sexism for the Guardian and racial inequalities in public schools for the San Francisco Examiner. Her work has also appeared in Vice, Mother Jones, Wired, the San Francisco Chronicle and PopMatters. Her latest book is Tenacity: Heavy Metal in the Middle East and Africa.
